Matlab Student
For UVic students the new Campus-Wide (TAH) license agreement allows unlimited access to all MathWorks Academia products. It replaces the more limited TSH agreement described in the box below which expired at the end of December 2020.
Students and others wishing to perform a new install should visit the MathWorks UVic portal and click the "Sign in to get started" button. It appears this portal now only offers the MATLAB (Individual) licensing option. For anything different please contact contact Engineering IT Support, engnhelp @ uvic.ca
Old pre-2021 Info
UVic has an annual Total Student Headcount (TSH) license agreement which allows current students (both undergraduate and graduate) to download, install and run Matlab products on their personal owned machines. In the initial year of 2016 about 1750 students in 20+ departments did so. By the end of 2019 about 4400 students have partaken over the years with over 2300 currently have installations on about 3800 computers.
Matlab is also available in many learning labs across campus under our Classroom license without the need to gain additional access.
Personal perpetual licensed copies of MATLAB Student can still be purchased directly from MathWorks.
Matlab can also be accessed from a web browser using the MATLAB Online™ service without the need to download or install software. Store files and data in the cloud, colloborate and share with other users, publish documents for anyone.
MATLAB Mobile™, a lightweight desktop app can be installed on smartphones & tablets to connect to a MATLAB session running on MathWorks Cloud or your computer, or to acquire data from the device's sensors.
MATLAB Drive™ can be used to synchronize files between your computers, MATLAB Mobile, and MATLAB Online™.
